Resources – Application Checklist & Guide

Prior to the Adult Tertiary Entry Expo

  1. Research the type of field you believe that you would like to enter. Talk to people who are currently working in this industry about the type of jobs available, work experiences, skills required, etc and visit the website www.myfuture.edu.au
  2. Attend Open Days of institutions. If the institution has already hosted this event or does not have one, contact the institution to organise a tour of the facilities.
  3. Visit the QTAC website to view the key dates for applications or purchase a 2012 QTAC Guide from your local newsagency from June 2011.
  4. Submit a Personal Competencies Assessment (PCA), if required
  5. Undertake the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), if require

At the Adult Tertiary Entry Expo

  1. Talk face to face with institutions that offer the programs/courses you would like to study.
  2. Find out about the modes of study available ( Full time/ Part time/ External/ Distance/Online)
  3. Investigate prerequisites, assumed knowledge or any special entry requirements
  4. Find out about fees for the program/courses you are interested in undertaking and the payment options available.
  5. Talk to Centrelink about any entitlement in which you might be eligible to receive with the government.
  6. Investigate any Scholarships or entry programs that might be available.

After the Adult Tertiary Entry Expo

  1. Lodge your QTAC application on the Apply-by-Web service. The on-time due date is 30 September 2011. Make sure that you use all six preferences.
  2. Ensure that you have submitted to QTAC any relevant supporting documentation.
